Police: Knife-wielding man required stun gun

 Officers said he appeared drug-addled and refused orders to drop weapon

Image 2A Coatesville man wielding a knife with an eight-inch blade had to be Tasered on Monday after he brandished the weapon at two officers, police said.

Officers Brenden Boyle and Miguel Ortiz were dispatched to a disturbance at the Community Market in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway at 3:59 p.m., police said. The officers came in contact with Kristopher Wilkenson, 23, who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, police said.

Wilkenson did not adhere to the officers’ verbal commands to drop the weapon and so they used a stun gun to take him into custody, police said. Wilkenson, who was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, was transported to Brandywine Hospital for treatment and observation before he was video-arraigned on the charges, police said.

Another disturbance was reported in the 100 block of North Seventh Avenue on Tuesday at 2:23 a.m., police said. Officer David Marquette responded to a complaint regarding Najah Deveaux-Scott, 31, of Coatesville, who was accused of damaging the front door of a bar, police said, adding that she was charged with criminal mischief.

On Monday at 11:15 p.m., Officer Sylvester Earle responded to the 100 block of West Lincoln Highway, where he found Oronda A. Rahatt, 34, lying on the ground, visibly intoxicated, police said. Rahatt was charged with public drunkenness, police said.

Officer David Marquette responded to a reported domestic in the 100 block of Virginia Avenue at 8:01 p.m., police said. The alleged victim told the officer that Stacey Jackson, 21, of Philadelphia, was harassing her and that she feared for her safety, police said.  Jackson was ordered to leave the residence and later charged with defiant trespass and harassment when he returned, police said.

Another domestic dispute was reported at 8:09 a.m. on Saturday at the Ash Park apartments on South Fourth Avenue, police said. Officer Paul Antonucci filed assault charges against Lauren Davis, 23, of Coatesville, for allegedly cutting her boyfriend’s hand with a knife when he attempted to get it away from her, police said.

Officer Miguel Ortiz processed Recardo Thompson, 29, of West Chester, who turned himself in at the station on Monday at 5:25 p.m.Thompson was wanted by West Chester police on warrants for theft and related charges, police said.

Abdullah N. Muhammad, 31, of Coatesville, was taken into custody in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway on Monday at 11:58 a.m. by Officer Brenden M. Boyle, police said. Police determined that Muhammad had an active warrant on drug charges from Philadelphia after he reportedly did damage to a vehicle earlier on Monday, police said. The victim reported that Muhammad did the damage between 4:45 a.m. and 5:09 a.m. at South Sixth Avenue and Walnut Street; he fled before Officer Chris McCarthy arrived, police said.

On Monday at 11:45 a.m. the above date and time Officer Brenden Boyle was dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Olive Street for a reported theft at a residence, police said. The victim said sometime in the past week three gold necklaces, a gold ring, and a gold bracelet, valued together at about $1,000, were taken from a bedroom in the home, police said. No signs of forced entry were found; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Police are also investigating a hit and run accident, which allegedly occurred in the unit block of South 11th Avenue, police said. Officer Miguel Ortiz said a white Honda, which should have damage to the front passenger’s side, reportedly struck the victim’s vehicle, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Juan Lopez-Leon, 27, of Coatesville, was arrested for driving under the influence in Kennett Square following a traffic stop in the 400 block of West South Street on March 17 at 1:46 a.m., Kennett Square police said.
