Thorndale resident, subdued with stun gun, faces multiple charges
On Tuesday, a Thorndale man resisted a Coatesville officer’s effort to stop his red SUV, slamming the door on Officer Jonathan Shave, pinning him to the vehicle, and repeatedly striking him in the head as the SUV started moving, police said.
Shave, who ended up receiving medical treatment at Brandywine Hospital for injuries he sustained, managed to break a window and use a Taser to subdue Troy D. Dennis, 22, police said. The incident occurred in the unit block of North Seventh Avenue at 6:58 p.m.
Dennis, who faces charges that include aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and related offenses, was taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post $50,000 bail, court records said. Court records show that he has a lengthy history of traffic offenses. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
At 4:48 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a house fire in the 100 block of South Third Avenue, police said. Officers evacuated the home and surrounding residences, and firefighters and emergency personnel extinguished the fire, said Officer Kirt Guyer. The residents said a space heater ignited a blanket on the third floor of the home, police said.
On Tuesday at 1:11 a.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Virginia Avenue for a “shots-fired” complaint, said Officer Kirk Guyer. Police determined that Brian Mason, 31, of Coatesville, had fired a handgun into the air following an argument; he was taken into custody and charged with weapons offenses, police said.
A reported disturbance led Officer Kirt Guyer to the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police said. Upon arrival, police took Tina Pirches, 56, of Coatesville, into custody on a warrant for a probation violation, police said. She was also cited for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, police said.
Investigation into a harassment complaint filed on Tuesday at 6:56 p.m. led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Coatesville man, police said. Andrew Kempest allegedly harassed the victim, who was not identified by police, on Facebook, police said.
On Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., Eric W. McGlone surrendered to Officer Miguel Ortiz at the Coatesville police station, police said. McGlone, 45, of Norfolk, Va., had three outstanding warrants from 2000 for possession and delivery of a controlled substance, police said. He was arraigned in district court and released on $50,000 unsecured bail, police said.
State police from the Embreeville barracks investigated a two-car crash on the westbound Rt. 30 Bypass, east of Airport Road in Valley Township, on Tuesday at 1:17 a.m., police said. Police said a 2001 BMW driven by Leon D. Jones, 53, of Coatesville, left the roadway and struck an unoccupied 1991 Pontiac Sunbird, which was parked on the right shoulder. Police said Jones fled the scene on foot but was cited for leaving the travel lane.
