2 students recognized at tri-state science fair

Coatesville 9th-graders cited for work in math, botany

Katie Ernst was a first-place winner in the 9th-grade mathematics category for her project entitled “Hydroharmonics: Is There Math Behind the Music?” She also received an award from the Leonardo DaVinci Society.

Ian Applebaum received honorable mention for his 9th-grade botany project: “Lights, Color, Oxygen.”

More than 1,000 students from the tri-state area competed at the fair. Founded in 1949 to stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, it is one of the oldest in the country.
