Police: Driver loses control on Rt. 82

Officers cited Honey Brook man for speeding

Image 2On Friday at 10:02 a.m., police were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of Rt. 82, north of Wagontown Road, Officer Brenden M. Boyle reported.

The driver of the vehicle, Wilfredo Guzman Jr. of Honey Brook lost control of the vehicle as he attempted to pass a vehicle while negotiating a curve in the roadway; the vehicle struck the center guardrail and spun, eventually coming to rest facing the wrong way in the southbound lane, police said. The vehicle, which sustained disabling damage, had to be towed from the scene, and Guzman was cited for speeding, police said.

Coatesville officers were dispatched to the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway for an alleged retail theft at 7 p.m. on Friday, said Officer Paul Antonucci. A Hispanic female in her mid 20s wearing a purple sweatshirt and pushing a baby stroller attempted to leave the pharmacy with two items, said store employees who stopped the woman and retrieved the merchandise at the door, police said, adding that the woman fled on foot westbound on Lincoln Highway.

 A verbal altercation between juveniles was reported in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, said Officer Carmen Mollichella. When one teen went to walk away from the situation, the other threw a rock, which struck the victim in the face, causing a small laceration above the victim’s lip. The defendant was charged with harassment, police said.
