Visit to residence leads to warrant sweep

Three taken into custody for unresolved charges,  police said

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Monday, Coatesville detectives and patrol units surrounded a residence in the 300 block of East Chestnut Street before taking three individuals into custody, police said.

Carl Taltoan, 22, of Coatesville, was wanted on two bench warrants, one for flight to avoid apprehension and one on felony drug charges, police said. Nashay Redd, 19, of Philadelphia, and Shane Johnson, 18, of Coatesville, were each wanted on bench warrants dating back to their time in the juvenile system, police said. All three were taken to Chester County Prison, police said.

Glenn Bland, 54, of Coatesville, was cited for harassment and disorderly conduct after he allegedly tried to start a fight over a work-related issue from the day before at 5:20 a.m. Monday at the victim’s residence, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported.

An argument over a television in the 200 block of Charles Street led a Coatesville man to the police station at 2:51 a.m. Tuesday to report an assault, Officer Jonathan Shave said. The man told police he had an argument with his girlfriend that escalated, with several family members assaulting him, police said. He was treated at Brandywine Hospital for injuries, and the investigation is continuing, police said.

During a traffic stop on Tuesday at 12:22 a.m. at Church and Charles Streets by Cpl. Ken Michels and Officer Jonathan Shave, police determined that Jose A. Ortiz, 29, of Coatesville, a passenger inside the stopped vehicle, had a criminal warrant for receiving stolen property, police said. Ortiz was arrested and held for video arraignment, police said.

On Monday at 9:27 p.m., Officer Jonathan Shave responded to the 100 block of North Fifth Avenue for a report that four juveniles were throwing rocks at vehicles and that one vehicle sustained damage to the front window and hood, police said, adding that the juveniles fled before police arrived.

The theft of a television was reported on Monday at 6:55 p.m., Officer Brenden M. Boyle said. The victim, who lives in the unit block of Bantel Row, said she found the TV, described as a 30-inch black model with a yellow sticker on the bottom, missing when she returned home; no signs of forced entry were observed, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Officer Jonathan Shave responded to the 400 block of Maple Avenue for a report of a pocketbook theft at 6:17 p.m. Monday, police said. The victim said she was unloading groceries with a friend and found the purse missing when she returned to the vehicle, police said. The woman told police an unknown actor returned the purse to her on Tuesday; however, several bank and identification cards were missing, police said, adding that the investigation is continuing.
