Volunteers being sought for Saturday morning creek cleanup
Organizers of the Brandywine Creek Cleanup on Saturday are seeking residents’ help to spruce up a treasured resource.
Sponsored by the City of Coatesville, the Brandywine Valley Association (BVA), the Coatesville Community Policing Committee, and the Coatesville Parks and Recreation Commission, the event will begin rain or shine at 8 a.m. at Gateway Park, First Avenue and Lincoln Highway, in Coatesville.
Marie Hess, who heads the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission, said the primary task will be picking up trash along the creek. “People should wear clothes that they wouldn’t mind getting dirty,” she said, adding that boots and gloves are recommended.
She said that this year’s event marks the second year of a partnership with the BVA and provides a great opportunity to assist with beautifying the community. The more people who attend, the better, she said. “Bring a friend, neighbor, or family member along,” Hess suggested.
