Police: Woman shot during domestic dispute

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACoatesville police who responded to Brandywine Hospital on Monday at 5:54 a.m. found a shooting victim in the emergency room, Det. Sgt. Brandon L. Harris reported. The woman, afraid to disclose what happened, initially stated that she was walking in the 500 block of Olive Street when she was shot by an unknown assailant, police said.

Further investigation revealed that the shooting had occurred within the victim’s residence in the 500 block of Victoria Drive during a verbal dispute that turned violent, police said. The victim told police that Vicshawn D. Hunt, 27, of Valley Township, refused to leave her home. During their  argument, the victim struck Hunt with a bed pillow several times to get him to leave, and Hunt pulled out a small-caliber handgun, stuck it against her side, and fired one shot, striking the victim in her right breast, police said.

At the time of the shooting, the victim’s two children were in the home, and Hunt left after being confronted by the victim’s 16-year-old son, who was awakened by the sound of gunfire, police said.

At 7:38 p.m., police tracked Hunt to an apartment located in the 100 block of Harlan Drive; he was taken into custody following a brief struggle, police said. He was charged with aggravated assault with a handgun, aggravated assault, and related offenses and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post $100,000 cash bail, police said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, court records said.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the unit block of South Sixth Avenue for a domestic disturbance on Monday at 8:52 p.m., Officer Brenden M. Boyle reported. The victim stated that William Bradley, 43, of Coatesville, made statements to her that made her fear for her safety; a non-traffic harassment citation was filed against Bradley in district court, police said.

A disturbance on Monday at 5:03 p.m. led police to the 500 block of East Chestnut Street, Officer Sylvester Earle reported.  After an investigation, police charged Michele Hardy, 35, of Coatesville, with terroristic threats.
