Police: Suspicious vehicle leads to pot bust

Two occupants, one of whom had gun, face multiple drug charges

Jeffrey Ingemie and Officer David Marquette were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the area of the unit block of South Chester Avenue, Coatesville police said. Upon arrival, the officers observed a black Dodge Charger occupied by three males; the vehicle had a strong odor of marijuana, police said.  Garnell A. Dixon, 26, of Coatesville, was seen stuffing an unknown object in the trunk, and Victor Ford Jr., 23, of Coatesville, had a firearm in his possession, police said.

After the men exited the vehicle, police said they found a bag of suspected marijuana on view in the  front door pocket of the vehicle. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle, and officers found several large bags of green vegetable matter and equipment used in the sale and distribution of narcotics, police said. Dixon and Ford were held for arraignment on multiple drug charges, police said.

Officer Jonathan Shave responded to the area of Charles Street and Hope Avenue at 4:14 p.m. Thursday for a report of an attempted robbery, police said. A juvenile victim stated that a black, 6-foot-tall male wearing a black “puffy” vest and dark jeans approached him, asking questions about the victims’ bicycle and cell phone, police said. The actor displayed a black handgun and began pushing the victim, who rode away, police said, adding that the suspect was last seen running eastbound toward West Harmony Street.

At 12:24 a.m. on Friday, Officer Jonathan Shave was on patrol and observed several subjects in Swing Park after closing hours, police said. After being asked to leave,  Shawn Thomas, 40, of Coatesville, who had an open can beer, approached a caged dog and began to agitate it, causing it to bark loudly, police said. Thomas was cited for violating the city’s open container ordinance, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication. One of Thomas’s companions, Andrew Weathers, 28, of Lancaster, also displayed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and was arrested for public intoxication and trespassing, police said.

On Thursday at 4:52 p.m., Amber Brown, 31, of Coatesville, was arrested for allegedly entering a residence she had been told to avoid in the 100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Officer Jonathan Shave reported. Brown, who was intoxicated, was arraigned and committed to Chester County Prison after failing to post $20,000 cash bail, police said.

Officers observed Andrew Stanley, 19, of Coatesville, in the area of South Eighth Avenue and Scott Middle School on Thursday at 2:29 p.m., Officer Miguel Ortiz reported. Aware that Stanley had a felony warrant, officers took him into custody and transported him to district court for arraignment, where he was released on $10,000 unsecured bail, police said.

Officers observed Keri L. Oliver of Coatesville on the front porch of a home in the unit block of Strode Avenue on Thursday at 10:39 a.m., Cpl. Ken Michels reported. Knowing that Oliver had an active bench warrant for a parole violation, officers took him into custody without incident and determined that he possessed crack-cocaine, police said, adding that Oliver was transported to Chester County Prison by constables.

On Wednesday at 4:39 p.m., police were approached by a subject in the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway who said he had been the victim of an assault and attempted robbery in the 800 block of Buttonwood Street, Officer Brenden M. Boyle reported. The victim stated that he was seated in the front passenger seat of his friend’s vehicle when two black males armed with pistols approached the vehicle and got into the back seats, police said. One of the actors demanded the victim to empty his pockets and struck him several times in the back of the head with the firearm, but the victim was able to escape, police said. Officers were dispatched to the area of the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway for a report of a hit-and-run accident on Wednesday at 4:12 p.m., Cpl. Ken Michels reported. The victim, who was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, said a green BMW driven by an unknown Hispanic male had rear-ended him, causing damage to his rear bumper before fleeing northbound on North Ninth Avenue, police said.
