Disturbance call spurs public drunkenness citation

Police said inebriated Coatesville resident, 25, posed danger to himself or others 

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA disturbance call led to a public intoxication citation on Sunday at 1:32 a.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella reported. Upon making contact with Michael Morales, 25, of Coatesville, in the area of North Fourth Avenue and Diamond Street, the officer determined that Morales was intoxicated to a point where he was a danger to himself and/or others, police said. He was taken into custody, cited, and released when he was sober, police said.

While on patrol Sunday at 1:08 a.m., CpI. Guy Bruchstein came upon a crash in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said. The driver of a blue van, who was wearing his seatbelt, apparently experienced mechanical problems as he made a left turn from Pennsylvania Avenue onto East Lincoln Highway, striking an unoccupied parked car, police said.

Another apparent mechanical problem caused a two-vehicle crash on Sunday at 2:02 p.m. at South First Avenue and Oak Street, Cpl. Larry Cooper reported. A driver’s brakes reportedly ailed as he approached the First Avenue stop sign and he continued into northbound traffic on Oak Street, striking a vehicle occupied by two people, police said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, but no one was injured, police said.

Police are investigating a report that someone threw eggs sometime Saturday night at a residence in the 100 block of Country Run Drive, Det. Shannon Miller reported.

Melissa Clifford, 36, of Coatesville, was arrested for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after police responded at 12:17 a.m. on Sunday to a disturbance in the 100 block of South Fifth Avenue, Det. Shannon Miller reported. Less than 12 hours later, Officer Jose Colon responded to a domestic disturbance in the same block that resulted in a citation for Clifford for disorderly conduct and harassment, police said.

Officer Jose Colon responded on Sunday to the 300 block of Charles Street for a reported burglary, police said.  Someone gained access through a rear door of the residence and took two empty boxes, one for an iPhone and one for an iPad, police said, adding that an investigation is continuing.

Curtis Self, 20, of Coatesville, was stopped by Officer Jose Colon at Pennsylvania Avenue and Harmony Street on Sunday at 9:52 a.m., police said. Self had an outstanding criminal warrant, police said.
