Coatesville man with active warrants get new charge

Police said he had drugs in his possession when he was stopped

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA Coatesville man detained for a traffic stop at 1:11 a.m. on Monday in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street ended up in the custody of constables, Cpl. Ken Michels reported. Police said they determined not only that Morris A. Ellis, 26, had three outstanding warrants, but also that he was in possession of marijuana, leading to another charge.

On Monday at 7:50 p.m., Officer Stephen Galletta made contact with David Lammey, 29, with no known address, in the 700 block of East Diamond Street, police said. Lammey had an active bench warrant from Lancaster County for failing to register a change of address under Megan’s Law, police said. Upon searching Lammey, Galletta found two crack pipes, two baggies of heroin, and a baggie of crack cocaine, police said. Lammey was arraigned and held after failing to post $20,000 cash bail, police said.

Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Olive Street for a hit-and-run accident on Monday at 7:36 p.m., Officer Brenden Boyle reported. A parked Mazda station wagon was struck, damaging the driver’s side window, by a possibly silver SUV, which was last seen westbound on Olive Street approaching South Fifth Avenue, police said. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie conducted a stop on a known wanted subject, Herbert Lamont Jackson, 31, of Coatesville, on Monday at 1:02 p.m., Officer David Marquette reported. Police said Jackson, wanted on a criminal warrant for driving under the influence and a summary warrant for retail theft, was transferred to the custody of the West Chester Police Department for arraignment.
