Weekend incidents generate 10 warrant arrests

 Alleged infractions ranged from assaults to probation violations

Image 2Over the weekend, Coatesville police responded to a number of incidents that resulted in arrests for outstanding warrants.

Cpl. Ken Michels and Officer Rob Kuech were dispatched to a disturbance on Saturday at 11:20 p.m. and came into contact with Steven McCarraher, 21, and Jacob Nelson, 28, both of Coatesville, in the 200 block of West Harmony Street, police said. McCarraher possessed a loaded, sawed-off Remington 870 shotgun, and Nelson had marijuana, police said, adding that both also had active warrants. They were taken to the police station for video arraignment, police said.

An investigation into a reported fight at the Midway Bar and Grill in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway on Friday at 9:21 p.m. led to a warrant arrest, Officer Jonathan Shave reported. Marquan Gant, 19, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on an assault warrant and charged on Saturday with institutional vandalism for damage to his holding cell that was viewed on surveillance cameras, police said.

The report of a large disturbance drew officers to the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway at 9:12 p.m. on Friday, according to Cpl. Ken Michels. Police said Rhonda A. Cannon, 42, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on an active bench warrant.

Richard Scott, 41, of Coatesville, who was known to have several active warrants, was observed in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway on Friday at 11:58 p.m. by Officer Brenden M. Boyle, police said. Scott was taken into custody and found to be in possession of two plastic bags with a white, rock-like substance that field-tested positive for cocaine, police said. Scott was taken to Chester County Prison on a bench warrant and charged with drug offenses, police said.

On Friday at 4:18 p.m., James Davis, 20, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on a bench warrant for a parole violation by Officer Jonathan Shave in Palmer Park at North Ninth Avenue and East Chestnut Street, police said.

A 33-year-old Coatesville resident was taken into custody on traffic warrants in the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway on Friday at 7:53 p.m., Officer David Marquette reported. Police said Victor Smith was a passenger in a vehicle subject to a traffic stop.

Damon Weeks, 36, of Philadelphia, was stopped on Friday at 1:10 p.m. in the 400 block of East Diamond Street, Officer David Marquette reported. Police said Meeks had an outstanding parole violation warrant.

Police observed Thomas C. Johnson, 36, of Coatesville, in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway on Saturday at 12:19 a.m., Officer Miguel Ortiz reported. Johnson was taken into custody on several active warrants, police said.

Coatesville police assisted U.S. marshals in serving a warrant on Saturday at 3:19 a.m. in the 500 block of Coates Street, Cpl. Ken Michels reported. Jered Hart, 20, of Coatesville, was taken into custody after a brief struggle, police said.

On Saturday at 4:56 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of North Third Avenue for a fight with a knife, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. Steven M. Schweitzer, 41, of Coatesville, was cited for disorderly conduct and harassment for striking two victims in the face and body, police said.

A dark blue, 2013 Hyundai Elantra with Pa. registration HZZ5856, was stolen on Saturday at 1:50 a.m. in the 400 block of Maple Avenue, Cpl. Ken Michels reported. Police said the owner had left the vehicle unattended and running when it was taken; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

A Coatesville man was charged with criminal trespass on April 28 at 1:45 p.m., said state police from the Embreeville barracks. Police said an intoxicated Jeffrey A. Morales, 30, tried to force entry into a residence by breaking a rear window and attempting to pry the back door in the 400 block of Main Street in Atglen. Morales, who was unable to post bail, was taken to Chester County Prison, police said.
