Police investigate gunshot on Harmony Street

Witnesses say noise followed by unknown vehicle speeding away

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Tuesday at 11:23 p.m., police responded to the area of South Sixth Avenue and Harmony Street for a report of a gunshot, said Officer Jose Colon. Witnesses said they heard a single shot in the 600 block of Harmony Street and then saw an unknown make or model vehicle speed off, heading eastbound, police said. Officers checked the area on foot with negative results; anyone with information is asked to contact police at 610-384-2300.

A trespassing complaint on Wednesday at 1:23 a.m. led Officer Jonathan Shave to the 600 block of Belmont Street, police said. Shave made contact with Sheron Purnell, 18, 0f Coatesville, who was found to be in possession of several bags of marijuana, police said. Purnell was arrested, processed and released on summons, police said.

Officer Jonathan Shave observed a fight on Wednesday at 12:55 a.m. at the intersection of West Lincoln Highway and North Church Street, police said. Andranay Hunt, 19, of Coatesville, was cited for disorderly conduct and obstruction of a roadway, police said.

On Tuesday at 11:44 p.m., Officer Jonathan Shave observed Jake A. Dean, 28, of Coatesville, who had a warrant for drug possession, in the area of North Seventh Avenue and East Diamond Street, police said. After Dean was taken into custody, a search revealed that he possessed a small amount of marijuana; he was held on the warrant and additional charges will be filed, police said.

Officer Jonathan Shave responded to a hit-and-run accident with no injuries on Tuesday at 10:22 p.m. in the 100 block of North Third Avenue, police said. The driver of a Chevrolet Prism was rear-ended, and the operator of a green Acura drove off, police said. The driver of the Acura, which had a license plate ending in 8038, was described as a black male with dreadlocks, police said.

On Tuesday at 7:28 p.m., Officer Jonathan Shave was dispatched to the 500 block of East Harmony Street for a report of an accident with a pedestrian struck, police said. A juvenile female was taken to Brandywine Hospital with a leg injury after she was hit by a Chrysler minivan that had been backing up, police said.

On Tuesday at 2:25 a.m., police were called to the 300 block of Lumber Street for an incident of criminal mischief, Officer Jose Colon reported.  An unknown person shattered the driver’s side rear window of a Chrysler minivan parked in a dental office lot, police said.

Police came into contact with Stacey L. Norris, 48, of Coatesville, near North Seventh Avenue and East Diamond Street on Tuesday at 2 a.m., Officer Jose Colon reported. After a short foot pursuit, Norris, who had an active criminal warrant, was taken into custody and transported to the station for processing, police said.
