23-year-old Coatesville man shot in arm

Police said injury Monday evening not life-threatening

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACoatesville officers were dispatched for a shots-fired call on South Sixth Avenue at 7:19 p.m. Monday, Cpl. Guy Bruchstein reported. Officers were not able to locate a scene, but did find blood in the 500 block of Olive Street, police said.

About a half-hour later, Brandywine Hospital advised police that Dashawn London, 23, had come in with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury to the arm, police said, adding that a detective spoke with London at the hospital.

While investigating the shooting scene, police asked several subjects who were blocking the sidewalk to move, Bruchstein reported. Timothy Green, 33, refused the directive and was cited for disorderly conduct, police said.

On Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., Officer Rodger Ollis was in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway and observed Shannon March, 31, a person known to have several active warrants, including two bench warrants and a criminal warrant, police said. March was taken into custody, transported to the police station, processed, and held for constables, who took him to Chester County Prison, police said.

At 12:25 p.m. on Tuesday, police observed Kevin E. Ealy, 24, of Coatesville, enter a residence in the unit block of South Sixth Avenue, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Police said Ealy, who had a probation violation warrant, was taken into custody without incident.

Officer Chris McCarthy reported seeing a Coatesville resident with a criminal warrant on Tuesday at 2 p.m. walking on Belmont Street in the area of South Sixth Avenue, police said. As officers approached Cameron E. Bryant, 22,  and advised him of the warrant, he fled; officers gave chase and were forced to make entry into a residence, police said. Bryant was found attempting to hold the door closed to avoid arrest; he tried to leave the home but was taken into custody on the warrant and charged with fleeing authorities, police said.

On Tuesday at 9:33 a.m., Officer Rodger Oliis was on patrol in the 300 block of East Diamond Street when he observed several new graffiti tags on various garages and brick walls, police said. The vandalism included properties belonging to Olivet Methodist Church, Coatesville Bible Fellowship, a residence, and a business, American Heritage Properties, police said. The markings –  silver and similar in style – contained the letters A, l and R. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300 or the Anonymous Tip Line at 610-380-1830.

Officer Carmen Mollichella took a report on Tuesday at 9:16 p.m. from a 23-year-old resident who said Kayla Royal, 18, and a 16-year-old female approached her in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway, police said. The victim said the two tried to provoke a fight and threatened her with bodily injury, police said. Citations were mailed to the defendants for harassment, police said.

On Tuesday at 5:50 p.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella attempted to stop Sherman Watson, 28, of West Chester, in the area of South Sixth Avenue and Olive Street on outstanding warrants, police said. After a short foot pursuit, Watson was taken into custody in the 500 block of Harmony Street, transported to the police station, and held for arraignment, police said.

A 34-year-old Coatesville man was arrested by state police from the Embreeville barracks on May 25 at 1:09 a.m., state police said. Martin Almaraz Hernandez was determined to be driving under the influence after a traffic stop at Seventh Avenue and East Lincoln Highway, police said.
