Police on patrol respond to gunshots

Man reportedly transported to hospital with injuries from an assault

Ken Michels and Officer Rob Kuech were on foot patrol in the area of the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway on Saturday at 3:05 a.m. when they heard three gunshots, police said.  The officers ran to the area of North Eighth Avenue and Diamond Alley, where they observed vehicles speeding from the scene, and they made contact with a man who had been assaulted, police said. The victim was transported to Brandywine Hospital for injuries to his face, back, and right hand, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Police are looking for a 30-year-old Coatesville resident stemming from a domestic dispute on Saturday at 8:03 p.m. in the 2200 block of Smith Bridge Drive, Officer Miguel A. Ortiz reported.  The alleged victim, who refused medical treatment, sustained injuries to the face, neck, and arms, police said.  Anthony Wallace has been charged with aggravated assault and related offenses; anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 610-384~2300.

Officer Rob Kuech responded to a domestic dispute on Sunday at 8 p.m. in the 100 block of North Fifth Avenue, police said. Jorge Romero-Rojas, 24, of South Coatesville, was charged with assault and related charges after he punched and threatened the victim, police said.

A fire alarm drew police to a residence in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway on Saturday at 11:33 p.m., Officer Rob Kuech reported. There, Gilbert Bacon, 60, of Coatesville, was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, police said. He was charged, video-arraigned, and released on $2,500 unsecured bail, police said.

On Saturday at 10:55 p.m. Officer Miguel A. Ortiz responded to the 100 block of Rosemont Avenue for a hit-and-run accident report, police said. The victim said his vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle on the right side rear bumper, light, fender, and doors while parked in on the west side of the 100 block of Rosemont Avenue. Anyone who may have witnessed the damage is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Officer Stephen Galletta took a report from a resident of the 300 block of Charles Street on Saturday at 9:12 p.m. regarding juveniles’ throwing rocks that damaged parked vehicles, police said. The juveniles were identified and criminal-mischief citations will be issued, police said.

Police responded to the area of Pearl Alley and Harmony Street for an assault on Sunday at 4:13 a.m., Officer Stephen Galletta reported. Police found a white Hispanic male in his 20s unconscious on the ground with severe head trauma and other injuries; he was transported to Paoii Hospital for evaluation. Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Police investigated an assault complaint on Saturday at 10:41 p.m. in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway, Officer Stephen Galletta reported. The alleged victim said that a verbal altercation turned physical, resulting in the victim’s being punched and pushed to the ground, police said. Tina Whitworth, 54, of Coatesville, will be cited for disorderly conduct and harassment, police said.

On Friday at 5:01 p.m. a parked Chrysler sedan was struck in the unit block of West Sixth Avenue by a Hyundai that did not stop, causing minor damage but no injuries, Officer Stephen Galletta reported. Witnesses identified Trey Burkholder as the Hyundai driver, and he will be cited for leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
