Screeching tires get attention of police

Oxford driver cited for blaring music, failing to display inspection stickers

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFirst, the screeching wheels from rapid acceleration got the attention of Coatesville police on patrol in the 100 block of East Lincoln Highway on Wednesday at 7:49 p.m., Officer Brenden M. Boyle reported. The blue Chevrolet station wagon, also had  music blaring in violation of the city’s noise ordinance, police said. The driver, Tonya A. Mendoza, 39, of Oxford, was cited for the noise infraction as well as failure to display state inspection and emission stickers, police said.

Coatesville police responded to the parking lot of a medical building in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway on Thursday at 4:48 a.m. for a criminal mischief complaint, Cpl. Ken Michels reported. The victim said someone had rummaged through an unlocked vehicle but nothing was taken, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

On Wednesday at 10:09 p.m., police were dispatched to South Fourth and Maple Avenues for a stolen-vehicle complaint, Coatesville Officer Rob Kuech reported. The victim stated that a 1995 maroon & silver two-tone Dodge Ram 1500 pickup bearing Pennsylvania registration YYBT125 was taken, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police 610-384-2300.

Coatesville Cpl. Ken Michels and Officer Rob Kuech spotted Richard Pittman, 34, of Coatesville, on a porch in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway on Thursday at 3:05 a.m., police said. Pittman, who was known to have two active domestic bench warrants, was taken into custody without incident and transported to Chester County Prison by constables, police said.
