State police said they came in contact with 140 motorists Saturday
During a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, state police from the Embreeville barracks said they stopped 140 motorists and arrested 10 for driving under the influence. In addition, police said one was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, 10 received citations for summary traffic violations, and nine got warnings, police said.
On Saturday at 1:06 a.m., police observed Travis Montgomery, 23, of Honey Brook, and Wayne Mayo, 24, of Coatesville, staggering behind a parked vehicle on the shoulder of Rt. 82, just south of the border with Valley Township, Coatesville Det. Kevin Campbell reported. After determining that both men were dangerously under the influence, officers arrested and searched them, resulting in the discovery of crack cocaine in Montgomery’s possession, police said. Montgomery was arraigned on the drug charge and released on 10 percent of $2,500 bail, and Mayo was cited for public drunkenness and released when he no longer posed a danger to himself or others, police said.
Det. Shannon Miller responded to a domestic dispute in the 500 block of East Chestnut Street on Saturday at 1:32 a.m., police said. An investigation led to drug-possession charges against Johnetta Deveaux, 28, of Coatesville, police said.
Coatesville police took a 14-year-old male into custody for a curfew violation on Saturday at 3:44 a.m., Officer Kirt Guyer reported. The teen, who was released to his parents, was observed in Modena Alley at Olive Street, police said.
A 47-year-old Coatesville resident was cited for harassment on Saturday at 5:23 p.m. in the 400 block of Victoria Drive, Det. Shannon Miller reported. Darrell Waters allegedly swung his foot and cursed at a 9-year-old child, police said.
During a traffic stop at 10:09 p.m. Saturday at South Fourth and Maple Avenues, a vehicle’s passenger, Barry Flamer, 25, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on a warrant, Det. Shannon Miller reported.
Det. Kevin Campbell took John Daniels, 44, of Coatesville, into custody on Friday at 11:48 p.m. for a bench warrant, police said.
A domestic dispute in the 600 block of Olive Street on Saturday at 1:48 p.m. resulted in harassment citations for Jasmine Guy, 25, and James Johnson, 47, both of Coatesville, Officer Guy Bruchstein reported.
Officer Guy Bruchstein responded to a theft from a vehicle complaint in the 400 block of East Lincoln Highway on Saturday at 6:07 p.m., police said. The victim said when he returned to his car, more than $2,000 in electronics had been stolen, including a Macbook and Toshiba hard drive, police said. An investigation is continuing, police said.
