Police: Driver lying over steering wheel draws notice

He is accused of being intoxicated and in possession of narcotics

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERACoatesville Police Officer Paul Antonucci responded to the 100 block of Woodland Avenue at 8:47 a.m. on Thursday for a report that a driver was collapsed over his steering wheel, police said. Police said they made contact with Curtis N. Gibbs, who appeared to be intoxicated and in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Gibbs, 59, of Coatesville, was taken into custody and transported back to the station for processing, police said. A preliminary hearing on drug charges is scheduled for Wednesday, court records said.

A pedestrian stop was conducted Friday at 4:07 a.m. by Det. Shannon Miller for two suspicious males in the area of North Third Avenue and Fleetwood Street, police said. One of the subjects, Ronald Bird, 40, of Coatesville, had a bench warrant and was taken into custody, police said. A search following his arrest revealed that he was in possession of marijuana, police said.

Det. Shannon Miller reported the arrest of Derrick Stokes, 31, of Coatesville, on Wednesday at 9:49 p.m. in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway for active warrants.
