Investigation led to Downingtown woman, 19, two Coatesville 17-year-old girls
On May 5 at 7:22 p.m., Coatesville police responded to a fight in Ash Park, Officer Sylvester Earle reported. A 23-year-old pregnant woman from Coatesville stated that she had been assaulted by multiple actors, three of whom she identified, police said. The three were taken into custody at the scene, and after a month-long investigation, police said they charged Julia Jappah, 19, of Downingtown, and two 17-year-old Coatesville girls in connection with the attack. According to court records, a preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled for Jappah, whose charges include simple assault and conspiracy.
On Thursday at 1:28 p.m., Officer Jonathan Shave was dispatched to the unit block of North Seventh Avenue for a harassment complaint. Richard Hardy Sr, 48, of Coatesville, was cited for picking up a rock and threatening the victim, police said.
At 3:41 a.m. on Thursday, Officer Jonathan Shave responded to the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway for an assault complaint, police said. The victim reported that a man came out of the alley with a baseball bat and struck him, police said. The victim required hospitalization, and the alleged assailant was not located, police said. The investigation is continuing, police said.
Police responded to a complaint of damage to a vehicle on Friday at 2:40 p.m., Officer Miguel Ortiz reported. discovered on June 28, 2013 at 1440 hours. The victim stated that her 2003 GMC station wagon was parked in the 700 block of Merchant Street overnight, and when she returned to the vehicle in the morning, damage was observed on the front bumper, police said.
A fire alarm led police and firefighters to the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway on Friday at 3:31 p.m., Officer Miguel Ortiz reported. Fire officials said the alarm was activated by smoke from fireworks that had been set off inside the building. Several residents evacuated the building, but no injuries were reported, police said. Police said they made contact with four juveniles in the area of South Fourth Avenue and Walnut Street who fit the description of a group seen leaving the building prior to the alarm. A 14-year-old male in the group was found to be in possession of fireworks, which is prohibited by city ordinance; two others had lighters in their possession, police said. All four juveniles were transported to the police station where they were released to their parents, police said, adding that the 14-year-old faces an ordinance violation.
On Friday at 11:44 p.m., Officer Jonathan Shave was dispatched to the area of Charles and Lime Streets for a report of approximately 50 people fighting in the street, police said. A victim with head injuries was unable to communicate what had happened and required transport to Paoli Hospital, police said, adding that the incident is under investigation.
After hearing extremely loud music coming from a black Chrysler 300, Cpl. Jeffrey lngemie conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of South First Avenue and Walnut Street on Saturday at 1:15 a.m., police said. The driver, Mario Sanchez-Delgadillo, 25, of Coatesville, was cited for the noise violation and for driving without a license, police said. Alberto Alverez, 27, Alfredo Garcia-Reyes, 21, and Julio Suarez-Estrada, 21, all of Coatesville, were cited for open-container violations, police said, adding that the vehicle was towed from the scene.
Police cited a 29-year-old Coatesville man for criminal mischief and harassment following a domestic dispute on Saturday at 5:16 a.m. in the unit block of Woodland Avenue, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. Marquis O. Peoples is accused of dragging the victim out of bed after an argument, injuring the victim’s knee in the process, and punching a hole in a wall, police said.
Police responded to Mount Pleasant Street and West Lincoln Highway on Saturday at 11:18 a.m. for a criminal-mischief complaint, Officer Rob Kuech reported. A 2002 Honda minivan, last seen undamaged at 8:30 p.m. Friday, had four flat tires with apparent puncture marks and a shattered windshield, police said. On Saturday at 5:28 p.m., Jose Fernandez, 25, of Coatesville, was cited for driving without a license and failing to observe a stop sign after police responded to a two-vehicle accident at Walnut Street and South Sixth Avenue, Officer Jonathan Shave reported. Police said both drivers were wearing seatbelts and no one was injured.
Officer Jonathan Shave responded to a domestic disturbance on Sunday at 4:59 a.m. in the 100 block of South Sixth Avenue, police said. Stephon Toney, 30, and Tenesia Whitaker, both of Coatesville, were cited for harassment, police said.
Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie was dispatched to the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway on Sunday at 8:09 p.m. for a report of a theft in progress, police said. Christopher Johnson, 18, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody and released on a summary retail-theft charge, police said.
On Sunday at 12:51 a.m., Officer David Marquette had contact with Charles Baxter, 25, of Coatesville, in the 100 block of Victoria Drive, police said. Baxter was charged with possession of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia, police said.
