Police: Wrong-way driver arrested on drug warrant

She is also accused of failing to possess valid driver’s license

ImageOn Thursday at 8:46 p.m., Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie conducted a traffic stop on a white Mitsubishi Outlander that was viewed driving the wrong way in the 600 block of East Harmony Street, police said. The operator, Lidia Perez-Melendez, 51, of Coatesville, did not possess a valid driver’s license but did have an active warrant from Philadelphia Police for drug possession, police said. Perez-Melendez was picked up by the Philadelphia warrant unit and transported to Philadelphia, police said.

After Officer Stephen Galletta made contact with Edward Washington, 25, of Morrisville, in the 400 block of East Lincoln Highway on Friday at 4:07 a.m., he determined that Washington had a bench warrant for a domestic violation, police said. Washington was held at the police station and then turned over to constables, police said.

A 44-year-old Coatesville man was observed staggering and experiencing difficulty getting into his white Lincoln in the Kool Bar parking lot on Thursday at 11:15 p.m., Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported.  Jeffrey Jenkins, 44, of Coatesville, was taken into custody for public drunkenness, police said.

On Friday at 12:03 a.m., police were dispatched to the Kool Bar for an July 5, 2013 Coatesville City Police Department was dispatched to the Kool Bar for a intoxicated male, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. He arrested Jaimes Ramiro-Hernandez, 25, of Coatesville, for public drunkenness and held him at the police station until he was sober, police said.

A 19-year-old Downingtown woman, wanted for assault charges in Coatesville, was stopped by Downingtown Police, Officer Jonathan Shave reported. Julia Jappah was held on Wednesday at 11:50 p.m. for video arraignment, police said.

A retail theft complaint on Wednesday at 5:09 p.m. at the Coatesville Community Market led to charges against Wayne Brazzle, 26, of Coatesville, Officer Jonathan Shave reported. An investigation revealed that Brazzle attempted to steal earphones valued at $4.23; Brazzle was processed and released with a citation, police said.

On Wednesday at 6:07 p.m., Officer Jonathan Shave responded to the 700 block of East Chestnut Street for a domestic disturbance, police said. After speaking with the victim, police determined that Brian Emerson, 30, of Coatesville, who fled prior to police arrival, would be charged with assault, police said.

State police from the Embreeville barracks said they conducted a traffic stop on the westbound Rt. 30 Bypass, east of Rt. 340 on Monday at 2:17 a.m. Marcellus A. Ginlett, 20, of Downingtown, was determined to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and arrested for drug possession, police said.

State police said they will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint through Sunday at an undisclosed location to promote public safety.
