City resident taken into custody for growing marijuana plants
A marijuana garden caught the attention of Coatesville Officer Stephen Galletta in the 400 block of Valley Road on Monday at 1:21 p.m., police said. John Thomas, 45, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on drug charges after police observed five pot plants in various stages of growth in and around a back-yard garden, police said.
On Monday at 9:37 p.m., Coatesville police were dispatched to the 500 block of Olive Street for an auto theft, Officer Miguel A. Ortiz reported. Police learned that the stolen vehicle, a 1997 four-door, gold Ford Escort with Pa. license JDJ-7965, had been parked in the block with the key inside. A search of the area was not successful; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.
Anthony Hugan, 52, of Coatesville, surrendered on Monday at 8:30 a.m. to Officer Paul Antonucci at the police station on an outstanding warrant, police said. Hugan was released to constables, police said.
Police came into contact with Cora Martinez-Thomas, 35, of Coatesville, in the unit block of North Seventh Avenue on Monday at 3:45 a.m., Officer Paul Antonucci reported. Martinez-Thomas, who was sleeping on the sidewalk, was visibly intoxicated when officers spoke with her, police said. She was taken into custody for public drunkenness and transported to the police station, police said.
