Coatesville man unsuccessful in avoiding warrant arrest

Police said they found him lying in wooded area after fleeing his residence

IMG_0314A 29-year-old Coatesville man took off on Friday at 6:47 p.m. when police from Coatesville assisted Valley Township Police in serving a warrant, Det. Shannon Miller reported. John Woodward fled on foot from his residence in the 200 block of Slack Drive but was taken into custody after he was found lying in a wooded area at the intersection of North Third Avenue and Coates Street, police said.

Officer Rob Kuech responded to the 100 block of East Chestnut Street on Saturday at 9:42 p.m. for a harassment complaint, police said. After an investigation, Justin A. Garnett, 25, of Coatesville, was cited for harassment after causing a disturbance, refusing to leave, and then throwing a cup of water at the victim, police said.

A 38-year-old Coatesville man turned himself in at the police station on Friday at 2:05 p.m., Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. Police said Nakia O. Clark had an active felony drug warrant. He was arraigned and sent to Chester County Prison after failing to post $250,000 cash bail, police said.

On Friday at 7:33 a.m., a Coatesville woman found that her 2013 white Hyundai sedan was stolen overnight from the 2200 block of Smithbridge Drive, Officer Stephen Galletta reported. The registration is Pa. JBM5337, police said; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

On Saturday at 9:33 a.m., Coatesville police conducted a traffic stop in the unit block of South First Avenue, Officer Sylvester Earle reported. In an apparently unsuccessful effort to hide drugs by tossing them from the vehicle, William L. Mackey, 54, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on drug charges, police said.

State police from the Embreeville barracks conducted a traffic stop on June 8 at 8:03 on the eastbound U.S. 30 ramp to Rt. 202. During the stop, troopers determined the William E. Mackey, 31, of Coatesville, was driving with a license suspended for DUI, police said. Mackey, who showed signs of intoxication, failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for driving under the influence, police said.
