Police: Bullets strike occupied residence

No injuries reported; information about incident being sought

Image 2Investigating a report of gunshots, Coatesville Cpls. Brenden Boyle and Jeffrey Ingemie responded on Sunday at 3:17 p.m. to the 300 block of Charles Street, police said. During the investigation, officers found two rounds had struck a residence that was occupied by several subjects, police said, adding that no one was injured. Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the station at 610-384-2300.

Officer Stephen Galletta investigated a hit-and-run complaint in the 700 block of Merchant Street on Sunday at 4:52 a.m., police said. The victim said his vehicle, a 2013 Chrysler sedan 200, had minor damage along the driver’s side; there were no witnesses, police said.

Officers dispatched to a disturbance in the 100 block of Walnut Street on Sunday at 11:55 p.m. had to break up a physical altercation between a male and a female, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Upon investigation, the female, Latisha Butcher of Coatesville, who was clearly intoxicated, was found to be the aggressor and taken into custody for pubic drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said.

On Sunday at 9:40 p.m., Cpl. Jonathan Shave responded to the 500 block of East Chestnut Street for a hit-and-run accident, police said. A witness said a grey Honda or Toyota coupe was attempting to parallel park and struck a parked Acura sedan, police said. The driver then shut off the striking vehicle’s headlights and sped westbound toward North Fourth Avenue, police said. The striking vehicle would have damage to the rear, driver’s side bumper, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Shave at 610-384-2300.

On Sunday at 5:23 p.m., Cpl. Jonathan Shave took Joel Perez-Lugo, 19, of Coatesville, into custody in the 300 block of Charles Street on a warrant for fleeing and eluding authorities, police said. He was processed, arraigned and released after posting 10 percent of $1,000 bail, police said.

Cpl. Jonathan Shave responded to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of Maple Avenue on Sunday at 4:20 p.m., police said. The victim and a juvenile were engaged in a verbal altercation, during which, the juvenile punched a hole in a glass window, causing damage, police said, adding that the juvenile was cited for criminal mischief.

Police responded to the 300 block of Charles Street on Saturday at 8 p.m. and again Sunday at 6 p.m. for separate complaints about vehicle vandalism, Officer Paul Antonucci reported. The victims each said their vehicles were damaged but nothing was taken, police said.

Officer Paul Antonucci was dispatched on Saturday at 8:01 a.m. to the unit block of South Eighth Avenue for a hit-and-run report, police said. The victim said sometime overnight a vehicle sideswiped his vehicle, causing damage to the driver’s side rear corner panel and rear tire, police said.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Lemon Street on Friday at 2:30 p.m. for an attempted-burglary complaint, Cpl. Brenden M. Boyle reported. The rear window of a garage had been pried, causing the interior pane of glass to shatter; entry was not made into the structure and nothing was removed, police said. Residents are urged to call 9-1-1 if they see any suspicious activity. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at the Coatesville Police Department at 610-384-2300.

State police from the Embreeville barracks investigated a crash on July 10 on the westbound Rt. 30 Bypass, west of Rt. 340, in Caln Township, police said. Paul Vincent Long III, 21, of Coatesville, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence, police said.

On Saturday, state police from the Embreeville barracks conducted a roving sobriety checkpoint, making contact with 66 motorists, police said. Five were arrested for drunken-driving, one was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 21 got traffic citations, and 43 received warnings for summary traffic violations, police said.

State police said they investigated an accident in the parking lot of the Sadsburyville Post Office in the 2900 block of Lincoln Highway on July 10 at 2:20 p.m. Police said a 2006 Hyundai Tucson driven by Linda S. Shank, 63, of Coatesville, backed out of a parking space and struck a female pedestrian, causing her to fall to the ground and strike her head, police said. The victim was taken to Brandywine Hospital for moderate injuries, and Shank was cited for failing to give a pedestrian the right of way, police said.
