Passed-out De. man allegedly turns aggressive

Police said he gave fake ID, slugged corporal, possessed illegal drugs

ImageAn effort to check on the well-being of a passed-out male in a vehicle led to fisticuffs and an arrest, Coatesville Cpl. Jeffrey lngemie reported. Police said the incident occurred on Monday at 1:59 a.m. Hilton Matthews Jr. 40, of New Castle, De., who showed signs of intoxication, initially lied about his identity, attempted to flee and threw a punch at Ingemie, who responded with a Taser, police said. Matthews was taken into custody, failed field sobriety tests, and refused to give blood for chemical testing, police said. Matthews was found to be in possession of a large amount of suspected marijuana and prescription pills, police said. Matthews was charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence, possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute, and related offenses, police said. Ingemie, who sustained a hand injury, required medical treatment, police said.

On Monday at 6:57 p.m., Officer Stephen Galletta made contact with Jose Santos, 31, of Coatesville, who had two bench warrants and a non-traffic warrant for his arrest, police said. Santos was taken into custody without incident in the 600 block of Belmont Avenue and transported back to the station to await transport by constables.

Officer Stephen Galletta took Bernice Henderson, 30, of Coatesville, into custody at 9:27 a.m. in Valley Township district court, police said. Henderson, wanted on a warrant, was arraigned and released on unsecured bail, police said.
