Group also seeking participants for 50th Anniversary of March on Washington
Attendees at Monday night’s Coatesville Area NAACP meeting, who ranged in age from 11 to 95, heard insight from Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan on his job.
NAACP officials said Hogan shared information about “A Day in the Life of a D.A.” and also fielded questions from an audience of more than 45.
“It always is a pleasure to get together with the NAACP to talk about law enforcement and community issues. I appreciate being invited by the NAACP leadership,” said Hogan. “It was good to see some old friends and make some new friends.”
Announcements made at the meeting included information on a bus trip to Washington DC for the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington on Saturday, Aug. 24. Organizers said the trip would leave the Thorndale Kmart at 4 a.m. (the rally begins at 8 a.m.). The cost is $30 and those interested in participating should contact the Coatesville NAACP by emailing info@coatesvillenaacp.org or calling 484-378-0950.
The group’s next meeting will be held on Sept. 2 at City Hall. The guest speaker will be Coatesville Area School District Superintendent Richard Como. Also, next month the Coatesville NAACP will celebrate its 75th anniversary, and details on festivities to observe it are in the works.
