Victim: Robbers struck him, grabbed laptop, Xbox

Police said theft occurred early Sunday morning in 600 block of E. Lincoln Highway

IMG_0485On Sunday at 1:38 a.m., Coatesville Cpl. Ken Michels and Officer Rob Kuech police were dispatched to the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway for a report of a strong-arm robbery, police said. The victim was walking in the block when he was struck in the face by an unknown assailant while a second actor forcibly took an orange and gray bag that contained an Xbox Kinect and Compaq laptop computer, police said. The actors fled on foot; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Officers came into contact with John Long, 44, of Coatesville, during a traffic stop at North Seventh Avenue and East Chestnut Street on Saturday at 5:15 a.m., Cpl. Ken Michels reported. Long, who became combative and spit on officers, was found to be in possession of narcotics, police said. Long was charged with assault, narcotics possession, driving while suspended for DUI and related offenses, police said. Long, who also had a parole detainer, was transported to the police station, processed, video-arraigned, and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post $7,500 cash ball.

A stolen-vehicle complaint led Cpl. Jonathan Shave to the Valley Mart in the unit block of Strode Avenue on Monday at 2:51 a.m., police said. The victim reported that she left her vehicle running while she quickly ran into the store to make a purchase, police said The vehicle  – a 2006 Tan Ford Fusion, bearing PA Tag HLR-8604 – was gone when she returned, police said. The matter is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Shave at 610-384-2300, police said

Cpl. Jonathan Shave responded on Sunday at 7:35 p.m. to the unit block of South Fifth Avenue for a vehicle accident, police said. Orlando Nicandro-Garcia, 34, of Coatesville, was riding his bicycle while intoxicated and struck a vehicle driven by a West Grove man, causing minimal damage, police said. Nicandro-Garcia was transported to the hospital for injuries and cited for public drunkenness, police said.

On Saturday at 11:43 p.m., Cpl. Jonathan Shave responded to the 100 block of East Chestnut Street for a report of harassment, police said. The victim reported that she received a harassing text message from Lamar Boyer, 34, address unknown, who then drove by the victim’s house, parking his car across the street and blaring music, police said. Boyer was cited for harassment, police said.

Officer Sylvester Earle investigated a harassment complaint in the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway on Sunday at 1:45 p.m., police said. The 52-year-old victim said Monique Rocks, 25, of Coatesville, was continuing to harass her, despite being warned by police that charges would be filed if Rocks continued such communication, police said, adding that charges were filed.

On Sunday, Cpl. Jeffrey lngemie conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Victoria Drive of Jose Ortiz, 30, of Coatesville, who was known to have his license suspended for driving under the influence, police said. Ingemie discovered that Ortiz also had an assault warrant from Lancaster City, police said. Ortiz, who was cited for driving with a suspended license, taken into custody to await transport to Lancaster, police said

At 1:08 a.m. on Monday, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East Chestnut Street for an assault, Cpl. Ken Michels reported. Clifton Armstrong, 37, was taken into custody for domestic assault, narcotics possession and related offenses, transported to the police station, processed, and held for video-arraignment, police said.

On July 21 at 2:14 a.m., state police from the Embreeville barracks said they observed a traffic violation on the eastbound U.S. 30 ramp to Rt. 100 in West Whiteland Township and stopped Joshua A. Towber, 22, of Coatesville. After showing signs of intoxication and failing field-sobriety tests, Towber was taken into custody for suspected drunken-driving, police said.
