Coatesville police seeking early-morning arsonist

Two cars were reportedly set ablaze at Rosemont and Walnut

Image 2Two car fires led Coatesville police and firefighters to Rosemont Avenue and Walnut Street on Wednesday at 5:20 a.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella reported. Upon arrival, police determined that a 2008 Pontiac coupe and a 2007 Ford sedan had been set ablaze after rags were stuffed into the gas tanks, police said. Both vehicles were unoccupied, and the Coatesville Fire Department extinguished the flames. No injuries were reported, police said. A Coatesville man was cited for driving under the influence after causing a two-car crash on Newark Road in West Marlborough Township on Aug. 17 at 6:23 p.m., said state police from the Avondale barracks. Marcelino Flores-Vazquez, 25, was traveling north near Upland Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, lost control of his 1998 Mazda 626, which flipped and struck a 2007 Nissan Altima, police said, adding that no injuries occurred.

Abel Burgos-Serna, 28, of Coatesville, was stopped on U.S. 30 at Third Avenue in Coatesville for traffic violations on Aug. 14 at 2:02 a.m., said state police from the Embreeville barracks. Burgos-Serna showed signs of intoxication and was also arrested for driving under the influence, state police said.
