Parkesburg driver cited for speeding on U.S. 30 Bypass

Image 2A Parkesburg driver was cited for speeding on Wednesday when she lost control of her 2005 Hyundai Tucson on the U.S. 30 Bypass, east of Airport Road in Valley Township, said state police from the Embreeville barracks.

Police said Laurie D. Walls, 51, was traveling east when she struck a guide rail on the shoulder, causing her vehicle to spin so that it was blocking the left lane. Walls was not injured, but the Tucson had to be towed, police said.

On Friday at 2:16 a.m., Coatesville Officer David Marquette conducted a traffic stop on a motorist who was driving erratically in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said. Sharon Billington, 56, of Coatesville, was determined to be intoxicated to a degree that rendered her incapable of safe driving, and she was arrested for driving under the influence, police said.

On Aug. 25 at 5:01 a.m., state police from the Embreeville barracks said they investigated a one-vehicle crash on Telegraph Road, west of Spring Hill Lane, in West Caln Township. A 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt driving by Donna S. Tharp, 56, of Honey Brook, was traveling west when she veered off the roadway, hitting a sign and cement drain before coming to rest against a tree, police said. Tharp, who sustained minor injury, was cited for leaving her lane of travel, police said.
