Parkesburg man arrested twice in 3 days

He is accused of aggravated assault, drug offenses, possession of pirated DVDs

IMG_0873A Parkesburg man arrested on Tuesday for assault and drug offenses had charges related to counterfeit DVDs added on Friday, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported.

Ingemie was dispatched to the intersection of North Fourth Avenue and East Chestnut Street at 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday for a reported assault, police said. An investigation revealed that Derrick Morton, 53, had attempted to strike the victim with a car following an argument, police said. Morton was taken into custody about two hours later, at which point his vehicle was towed and found to contain crack cocaine and marijuana, police said. Morton was taken to Chester County Prison for drug and assault charges after failing to post $25,000 cash bail.

On Friday, Ingemie filed charges for possession of counterfeit DVDs of full-length movies such as “We Are the Millers,” “Planes,” and “Elysium,” police said. A preliminary hearing on the first set of charges, which include aggravated assault and driving with a suspended license, is scheduled for Monday, court records said.

On Sunday at 2:16 a.m., Cpl. Jonathan Shave observed Aduardro Leyva, 21, of Coatesville, standing in the intersection of North Third Avenue and East Chestnut Street, where he was blocking traffic and yelling at motorists, police said. Leyva was taken into custody for public drunkenness and obstructing the highway, police said.

On Saturday at 10:13 p.m., Officer Claire Lang conducted a traffic stop on a grey Ford F-150 that was driving erratically in the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said.  Wuilian Serrano, 40, of Coatesville, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, failed field sobriety tests and consented to a blood test, police said, adding that charges will be filed in district court.

John Ellerbe, 20, of Coatesville, was cited for trespassing in the 600 block of Belmont Street on Saturday at 6:40 p.m., Officer Claire Lang reported.

Officer Joseph Woulfe served a warrant on John Rothwell, 55, of Coatesville, on Friday at 7:22 p.m., at which point Rothwell was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. Rothwell was held for arraignment on the warrant and the new charge, police said.

Failure to heed a stop sign at the intersection of East Chestnut Street and North Seventh Avenue on Saturday at 11:25 a.m. led to a traffic stop of Slorseh Kolea, 19, of Coatesville, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. Kolea was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, taken into custody for processing, and released pending a summons, police said.

Officer Joseph Woulfe was dispatched to a retail-theft complaint in the unit block of South Fifth Avenue on Friday at 9:57 p.m., police said. Police said two males wearing black and red t-shirts, approximately 18 years old, entered the store, selected three half-gallon containers of iced tea and then fled without paying for them. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

Defields A. Lawrence II, 54, of Downingtown, who was observed by Officer Joseph Woulfe walking on Harmony Street with an open container of alcohol on Friday at 11:55 p.m., was detained and found to have active warrants, police said. He was taken to the police station to await transport to Chester County Prison by constables. Court records list Lawrence as a fugitive on forgery and theft charges.
