Cold case in Coatesville ends with arrest

Police said they found alleged trespasser taking refrigerator apart

IMG_0866On Sunday at 3:01 p.m., after police had been called to the 200 block of Dulles Drive for a trespassing complaint, they found Walter Teel, 39, of Coatesville, inside a residence taking apart a refrigerator, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported. Teel, who did not have permission to be there, was cited for criminal mischief to the refrigerator and a garage door lock; he was also in violation of a court agreement and was cited for simple trespass, police said.

Cpl. Jonathan Shave was dispatched to the area of South Sixth Avenue and Belmont Street on Sunday at 10:36 p.m. for a report of a loud group of loiterers, police said. Upon arrival, contact was made with Steven Reeves, 22, who had several traffic warrants; he was taken into custody and held for the constables, police said.

On Sunday at 9:03 p.m., Cpl. Jonathan Shave responded to the 400 block of Maple Avenue for a burglary report, police said. The homeowner said he left the residence about 6 p.m. and returned home to find that someone had entered the residence through a window and stole two 42-inch TVs, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Shave at 610-384-2300.

 Officer Miguel Ortiz came into contact with Demetrius Joseph, 18, of Coatesville, in the 400 block of Maple Avenue on Monday at 1:55 a.m., police said. Joseph, who had bench warrants, and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

On Sunday at 11:38 a.m., police were called to a store in the unit block of South Fifth Avenue for a retail-theft complaint, Officer Sylvester Earle reported. Officers were advised that a woman, who was described by a store employee, stole items and then fled the store, police said. Officers located Shukria Hasan, 26, of Coatesville in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said. She was taken into custody for retail theft after the store employee made a positive identification of her, police said.
