Alleged dual-county probation violator apprehended

Police said he was taken into custody while attempting to flee 

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Tuesday at 11:12 a.m., officers from the Coatesville Police Department were called to assist Chester County Adult Probation with taking Michael Vickers into custody on warrants for probation violations out of both Delaware and Chester Counties, Cpl. Jonathan Shave reported. Vickers, 54, of Coatesville, fled prior to police arrival and illegally entered several businesses in an attempt to hide, but Officer Miguel Ortiz apprehended him, police said. Vickers was transported to Chester County Prison on the warrants; additional trespassing and flight charges will be filed, police said.

On Tuesday at 7:28 p.m., Officer David Marquette responded to the 800 block of East Diamond Street for the report of a heavily intoxicated subject causing a disturbance, police said. Errick Johnson, 37, of Philadelphia, who became combative when approached, was arrested for public intoxication and held at the station until sober, police said.

At 10:42 p.m. on Tuesday, Officer David Marquette conducted a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet pickup truck traveling south on South Sixth Avenue with suspended vehicle registration, police said. During the stop in the 500 block of Oak Street, Marquette detected a strong odor of marijuana, and a clear plastic bag containing green vegetable matter was recovered on the floor of the front of the truck, police said. The driver, Palmer Roop, 45, of Cochranville, was placed under arrest for narcotics possession.

Police conducted a traffic stop in the unit block of North Sixth Avenue on Tuesday at 1:33 a.m., Officer David Marquette reported. Upon making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, police determined that a passenger, Anthony Brown Jr., 19, of Coatesville, had a non-traffic warrant, and he was taken into custody. A subsequent search revealed packaged narcotics in Brown’s possession, police said.

On Monday at 6:33 p.m., police responded to the unit block of South Fourth Avenue for a robbery complaint, Officer David Marquette reported. Upon arrival, the victims said the actors fled east toward Fifth Avenue, and Marquette and Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie detained several subjects near South Fifth Avenue and Olive Street who matched the suspects’ descriptions, police said. Marquette felt a weapon during a pat down of Gregory Deveaux, 20, of Coatesville, and placed him under arrest, police said. The weapon, a black BB pistol that violated city code, was confiscated, police said. In addition, officers found packaged narcotics in Deveaux’s possession, and he was held for arraignment, police said.

Another subject who was detained during the robbery investigation, Harvey Hall III, 18, of Coatesville, was arrested for summary warrants and taken to the police station for arraignment, Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie reported.
