Armed-robbery attempt reported Thursday night

Police said victim was accosted by three teens but managed to escape 

IMG_0874Coatesville Police were dispatched to an attempted armed robbery on Thursday at 11:53 p.m. in the area of North Eighth Avenue and East Chestnut Street, Officer Joseph Norcini reported. The victim said he was approached by three teens, one of whom – a husky white male 15 to 17 years old about 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 – struck him in the face, police said. A second, thinly-built black teen, 15 to 17 years old and 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, pointed a gun at the victim, he told police, while a third, husky black male, 15 to 17 and 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, was also present, police said.  The victim was ordered to the ground but was able to escape by running away, police said. Police responded on Thursday to the 200 block of Charles Street at 9:10 p.m. for a complaint about shots being fired, Officer Jose Colon reported. Police said they searched the area but did not find anything. Anyone with information is asked to call the station at 610-384-2300.

On Wednesday sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., someone knocked a mailbox to the ground in the 300 block of Adams Street, Officer Joe Thompson reported. Damage was estimated at $200, police said.

A Verizon technician told police that he was doing work on a house in the 900 block of Lumber Street on Wednesday at 11:57 a.m. and left his work-issued Motorola Xyboard tablet sitting on a trashcan in front of the house for a minute while he went to the back of the residence, Officer Carmen Mollichella reported.  The technician said when he returned, his tablet was missing and no one in the area saw who took it, police said, adding that the theft is under investigation.

Officer Carmen Mollichella responded to a theft complaint on Wednesday at 8:46 a.m. in the unit block of South Sixth Avenue, police said. The victim said overnight, several items were stolen from her front porch, police said. The victim told police that the items, which included a vase with flowers, a large pot with a tree in it and different types of decorations, were not expensive but did have sentimental value; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

On Sunday at 8:18 p.m., Officer Joseph Woulfe responded to the unit block of Harlen Avenue for a domestic complaint, police said. Richard Harkless, 30, of Coatesville, was taken into custody, arraigned, and transported to Chester County Prison by constables, police said.

On Friday at 1:24 a.m. in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway, Officer Jose Colon took Samuel Grove, 53, of Coatesville, into custody on bench warrants, police said.

Police responded on Friday at 4:18 a.m. to a complaint about a naked man in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Officers found Keon Williams, 30, of Coatesville, lying naked on the ground and yelling, police said. Williams, believed to be under the influence of drugs, was taken to Brandywine Hospital for treatment and cited for public drunkenness, police said.

Responding to a disturbance in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway on Friday at 12:32 a.m., police took Eddie J. Lawrence, 65, of Coatesville, into custody on a bench warrant, Officer Chris McCarthy reported.
