City woman charged with assault, burglary

Police said she and others broke into home, injured resident on Sunday evening

Image 2Coatesville Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Lumber Street at 7:44 p.m. on Sunday for an assault and burglary complaint, Coatesville Cpl. Brenden M. Boyle reported. The victim, who received medical treatment at the scene for a contusion to her ‘forehead and a cut on her lip, said several actors forced their way into the residence and assaulted her, police said.

One of the alleged assailants, Tana C. Butler, 30, of Coatesville, was apprehended in close proximity to the scene and charged with burglary, simple assault and related offenses, police said. The investigation is still open; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

On Sunday at 6:36 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Harlan Drive for a disturbance, Cpl. Brenden M. Boyle reported. Contact was made with Fareed J. Bradley, 36, of Philadelphia, who showed signs of intoxication, police said. Bradley, who was taken into custody and transported to the station until he was sober, was cited for public drunkenness, police said.

A complaint about a half-dozen shots being fired led police to the 300 block of Charles Street on Monday at 1:58 a.m., Cpl. Brenden M. Boyle reported. During a canvass of the area, officers were unable to location any evidence; anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call police at 610-384~2300.

Police on patrol in the unit block of Strode Avenue  on Friday at 5:10 p.m. witnessed Damon Gibbs, 31, of Coatesville, walking on the sidewalk drinking a beer, Officer Claire Lang reported. Gibbs was taken into custody for public drunkenness and possession of an open container of alcohol in public, police said.

On Friday at 7:41 a.m., police were dispatched to the unit block of Virginia Avenue for a disturbance, Officer Kirt Guyer reported. Upon investigation, officers learned that Brian C. Mason, 31, of Coatesville, allegedly threw a lawn chair into a neighbor’s yard and destroyed flowers during an argument, police said, adding that Mason was cited for disorderly conduct.

Police, who were dispatched to the 100 block of North Seventh Avenue on Sunday at 4:14 a.m. for a three-vehicle accident, determined that one of the drivers, Darrick Coleman, 42, of Coatesville, had a warrant, Cpl. Brenden M. Boyle reported. Coleman was taken into custody without incident and taken to the station to await transports by constables, police said.

A domestic-dispute complaint led police to the 200 block Fleetwood Street on Sunday at 1:09 a.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella reported. An investigation revealed that Greg Carter, 32, of Coatesville, got in an argument with one victim, striking her in the face with a closed fist, police said. A second victim was injured in an effort to stop Carter, police said. Both victims were treated at Brandywine Hospital, and Carter was charged with simple assault and harassment, police said.

State police from the Embreeville barracks have released the results of a roving sobriety-checkpoint detail on July 28: four motorists arrested for driving under the influence, one arrest for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one for resisting arrest and attempting to flee, and one for possession of a firearm without a license. In addition, police said they issued 31 summary citations and 13 warnings.

A 39-year-old Sadsburyville woman was arrested for drunken driving on Sunday at 2:15 a.m., state police said. Maria a. Morales, 39, was stopped on Strasburg Road, east of Hunt Drive, in West Bradford Township, where she failed field sobriety tests, police said.

On Sunday at 2:50 a.m., state police said Scott E. Clark of Coatesville attempted to flee from a traffic stop on Humpton Road at Bondsville Road in Caln Township. Police said Clark, who was taken into custody after a foot pursuit, faces charges that include fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence, drug possession and related offenses. He was arraigned and transported to Chester County Prison, police said.

State police from the Avondale barracks said a stolen vehicle was recovered on Wednesday at 3:55 p.m. after an unknown driver crashed it while driving southbound on Buck Run Road at Beaver Dam Road in Highland Township.  Police said the driver fled; anyone with information is asked to call the barracks at 610-268-2022.
