Driver collides with cow on Rt. 340 in West Caln

Impact caused moderate injury to motorist, disabling damage to car, state police said 

Image 2A collision with a cow ended badly for a 34-year-old driver in West Caln Township, said state police from the Embreeville barracks.

Police said Taurino S. Flores-Martinez, 34, of Coatesville, was traveling west on Rt. 340, east of Ash Road, on Friday at 5:45 a.m., and had insufficient time to react to a cow traveling in the opposite direction, striking the animal.

Flores-Martinez, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Brandywine Hospital with moderate injuries, and his 1998 Chevrolet S-10 sustained disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene, police said. Flores-Martinez was cited from being unlicensed, police said. Information on the cow was not readily available, police said.

Coatesville Police Officer David Marquette responded to the unit block of South Chester Avenue on Friday at 1:24 p.m. for a report of a domestic dispute, police said. Marquette determined that the argument was just verbal, and no charges were filed; however, Sean McNeil, 22, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on a bench warrant, police said.

On Friday at 4:46 p.m., Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie took Arron Kempest, 31, of Coatesville, into custody at East Chestnut Street and North Third Avenue on a warrant, police said.

On Saturday at 7:05 a.m., police made contact with Tamara “Tammy” Twaddell, 47, of Coatesville, in the middle of the 300 block of South First Avenue, Officer Stephen Galletta reported. Twaddell, who was yelling and screaming and showed signs of intoxication, admitted to ingesting narcotics earlier in the evening, police said. She was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct and held at the station until sober, police said.

Police are investigating the theft of a purse from a vehicle while the owner was attending a funeral at Tabernacle Baptist Church in the 800 block of Coates Street on Friday at 11:51 a.m., Officer Sylvester Earle reported.  Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

After investigating a domestic dispute on Saturday at 5:36 p.m., police charged Robert Hardy, 22, of Coatesville, with simple assault, Officer Sylvester Earle reported. Hardy was arraigned and released on $7,500 unsecured bail, court records said.
