Police: Pot smell leads to drug arrest

Patrol officer  investigated parked vehicle with 3 occupants about 3 a.m.

IMG_0875While patrolling in the 200 block of New Street on Sunday at 2:57 a.m., Coatesville Police Officer Raymond Jaglowicz observed a parked vehicle occupied by three subjects, police said. Upon investigation, the subjects were asked to exit the vehicle, from which an odor of marijuana emanated, police said. A consent search resulted in the discovery of a bag containing multiple glassine bags; in addition, Philip Whittington, 20, of Coatesville, was found to be in possession of a glassine bag filled with marijuana and an unopened cigar, and he was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

On Monday at 9 a.m., police responded to Valley Township district court, where they took Freddie G. Self, 63, of Coatesville, into custody for a criminal warrant, Officer Jose Colon reported.

While on a foot patrol in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway on Sunday, Officer Raymond Jaglowicz observed a parked, running vehicle in the parking lot of the Kool Bar on Sunday, police said.  After making contact with the occupants, one, who had a warrant for his arrest, provided a false ID, police said. Servin Calixto, 23, of Coatesville, was charged with false identification to law enforcement, police said. He was also charged with being in possession of a small amount of marijuana, police said.

Police investigating an incident that occurred in the 600 block of East Chestnut Street on Oct. 16 at 11:59 a.m. charged Paris J. Olinick, 29, of Coatesville, with theft, terroristic threats, and related offenses, Cpl. Larry Cooper reported. Olinick is accused of taking an Apple iPad and a vehicle without permission and threatening the victim in the process, police said.

While on a foot patrol on Sunday at 12:47 a.m., Officers Raymond Jaglowicz and David Marquette observed a subject in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway who was visibly unsteady on his feet, police said. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Darryl Butler, 52, of Coatesville, for public drunkenness, police said.
