PennDOT: Steer clear of traffic troublespots

Line-painting and bridge detours may slow travel

Line-painting trucks, lane restrictions, and lane closures are among the potential traffic-jammers on tap for area residents, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The agency said slow-moving painting vehicles will be working throughout the county from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. next week. In addition, PennDOT identified the following potential troublespots for area motorists:

Friendship Church Road in West Fallowfield Township between Route 41 and Route 10 will be closed and detoured for bridge replacement through June. A 24-hour detour is posted.

Bridge rehabilitation has closed and detoured Little Washington Road between Dilworth and Marshall Roads in East Brandywine Township until August. A 24-hour detour is posted.

Maintenance work on Route 10 in West Caln Township between Red Rose Lane and Hill Road will occur Wednesday and Thursday. Lane restrictions will be in effect from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Utility relocation and shoulder work will create brief stoppages on Route 52 in Pennsbury Township between US-1 and Route 926 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through September.

Paving on US-202 in Westtown and West Goshen Townships will continue with lane closures between Matlack Street and Route 100 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The road’s shoulders will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Concrete repair on Market and Gay Streets in West Chester will require lane restrictions between Matlack and Worthington Streets from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Southbound Route 100 in West Goshen Township will be reduced to one lane through November near the US-202 ramp for sound-wall construction.
