Alleged city bike thief wanted in West Brandywine

Coatesville resident, 21, also found in possession of drugs, police said

IMG_0486Coatesville Police were dispatched to the area of North Third Avenue and Diamond Street on Wednesday at 11:41 p.m. for a bicycle theft, Officer Joseph Thompson reported. The victim advised that a black male wearing a jean jacket had just removed the bike from his porch and was last seen traveling westbound on Diamond Street, police said.

Responding officers located the suspect, identified as Devante Lloyd, 21, of Coatesville, in the 200 block of Fleetwood Street, and he was taken into custody without incident, police said. Lloyd, who had an active burglary warrant from West Brandywine Township, was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana, cocaine, and heroin and was charged with theft and drug offenses, police said.

Police responded to several reports of criminal mischief on Wednesday evening, Cpl. Brenden M. Boyle reported. At 7:36 p.m. in the 100 block of Chester Avenue, juveniles were seen throwing eggs at a vehicle, and at 8:13 p.m. in the 1200 block of Oak Street, a glass storm door valued at $200 was broken by a beer bottle, police said. At 8:33 in the 500 block of Olive Street, juveniles were observed throwing eggs, one of which struck a man in the neck, police said. At 9:23 p.m., eggs were thrown at several passing vehicles at Sixth Avenue and Olive Street, police said, adding that several trash-recycling receptacles were overturned.

On Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., Coatesville City Police located a wanted subject in the rear of a building in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Kevin L. Brown, 18, of Coatesville, was taken into custody for a bench warrant from a probation violation, police said. Brown was taken to the police station to await transport to Chester County Prison, police said.

Coatesville Police were dispatched to the unit block of Woodland Avenue on Wednesday at 10:40 p.m. for a two-vehicle accident, Cpl. Brenden M. Boyle reported. A 2004 Acura sedan operated by Nishaya Twyman, 27, of Coatesville, left the roadway and struck a utility pole and an unoccupied 2011 Chevrolet sedan, police said. The Acura sustained disabling damage, and the Chevrolet had light damage to the front bumper, police said. Twyman, who was not injured, was cited for driving while suspended and careless driving, police said.
