A one-alarm building fire was brought under control quickly Saturday afternoon, Coatesville Interim Fire Chief Jim Lentz said Monday.

The City of Coatesville Bureau of Fire, along with units from Thorndale and the Veterans Administration Fire Departments were alerted to a report of a building fire at 4:11 PM on Saturday at Rt. 82 East Lincoln Highway, Lentz said.

The first units to arrive found an abandoned structure in the 100 block of West Lincoln Highway well involved in fire, Lentz said, adding that it was brought under control in minutes and no injuries were reported.

Lentz said that the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and that  he wanted to remind city residents that smoke detectors can be installed  free of charge. If you need them, call 610-384-0300, ext. 3101, or 610-679-6066.
