Details still sparse in E. Fallowfield attempted murder-suicide

Case marks second domestic fatality in less than a year

Image 10Few details about Sunday morning’s attempted murder-suicide on Park Avenue in East Fallowfield Township are being released, police said Tuesday.

An East Fallowfield Township Police news release said the department received a call at 12:32 a.m. that a woman was bound and that a male at the same location had shot himself.  Police have not identified either. Officers who responded located the female bound on the living room floor and a male suspect with a single gunshot wound to the chest; he  was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said Monday that the woman was taken to Paoli Hospital, where she was in stable condition. Hogan said no charges would be filed but an investigation was continuing. He said no further details would be released until investigators have an opportunity to talk to the victim about the circumstances that led to the suicide of her 52-year-old, live-in boyfriend.

East Fallowfield Police said they were assisted in the investigation  by Chester County Detectives, Parkesburg Police, South Coatesville Police, Caln Township Police, state police from the Embreeville barracks, Coatesville Police, the Chester County Coroner, Westwood Fire Company, and Brandywine Medics.

The shooting marks the second time in less than a year that a domestic dispute in East Fallowfield has ended with a fatality. On May 21, Gregory A. Twyman, 44, called police to tell them he had shot Jamica M. Woods, 37, his longtime partner and the mother of their 18-year-old daughter, at the residence they had shared on Rokeby Road. The District Attorney’s Office is seeking the death penalty for Twyman.
