Pair of city residents who fled allegedly had “large amount” of U.S. currency
After allegedly blowing through a red light at Eighth Avenue and East Lincoln Highway on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 2:18 a.m., a pair of Coatesville residents resisted efforts by Coatesville Officer Joseph Thompson to stop them, police said. Thompson reported that he activated his emergency lights and sirens, but the driver proceeded to flee recklessly and carelessly through the city, police said.
After the vehicle was boxed in, the men led officers on a foot chase before being apprehended, police said. Dupree White, 25, and Branden Dillard, 23, were found to be in possession of a “large amount” of U.S. currency, police said. They face charges that include felony fleeing and eluding and felony flight to avoid apprehension, police said. Court records said the defendants are awaiting arraignment.
On Monday, Nov. 4, at 3:38 p.m., Lt. James Audette was in the area of North Fifth Avenue and Lumber Street when he smelled marijuana, police said. Audette made contact with Wesley James, 18, of Coatesville, who was walking eastbound on Lumber smoking a marijuana cigarette, police said. James, who was taken into custody, was also found to be in possession of numerous other baggies of marijuana, police said. He was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct, arraigned, and released on $5,000 unsecured bail, police said.
At 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, Paris Olinick, 29, of Coatesville, turned himself in to Coatesville Police, on a warrant for theft and terroristic threats, Officer Guy Bruchstein reported. Olinick was processed, arraigned and then released on $1,000 unsecured bail, police said.
A traffic stop on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 12:48 a.m. in the 700 block of Merchant Street for an equipment violation led to drug charges for a 45-year-old Coatesville resident, Officer Joseph Thompson reported. Kenneth Brown, a passenger, was found to be in possession of marijuana and charged with possession of a controlled substance, police said.
