Before getting caught, he allegedly snagged more than $14,000
On Thursday, Nov. 7, at 2:11 p.m., police responded to the Coatesville Savings Bank (CSB) in the 100 block of East Lincoln Highway for a complaint regarding a man’s attempt to pass a fraudulent check, Officer Stephen Galletta reported. At the bank, police said they made contact with John Macallister, 30, of Baltimore, Md., and verified the check was fraudulent. It was later determined that Macallister also went to three other CSB branches and cashed or attempted to cash bad checks, succeeding in getting over $14,000, police said. Macallister was arraigned and taken to Chester County Prison after failing to post $35,000 cash bail, police said.
Officer Joe Woulfe responded to the unit block of South Fifth Avenue on Monday, Nov. 11, at 2:10 p.m. for a burglary that was discovered, police said. The victim said when he came home, he found that some items had been stolen from his residence, including cash, a watch, and some other small items, but no sign of forced entry was evident, police said. On Nov. 11 at 7:44 a.m., police responded to the unit block of South Sixth Avenue for a burglary complaint, Officer Joe Woulfe reported. Police said the victim found that the rear door of his garage had been forced open and three, four-wheel ATVs were stolen. A short time later, officers located one of the stolen ATVs in the back yard of a nearby residence on Virginia Avenue, and later that day, the victim located a second ATV, which was returned, police said. The third vehicle, described as a 2000 black and white Yamaha Blaster, is still missing, police said; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.
A resident in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street discovered the theft of a laptop computer and cash from inside an apartment on Monday, Nov. 11, at 6:16 a.m., Officer Joe Woulfe reported. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300
On Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 2:04 p.m., Cpl. Jonathan Shave observed Justin Allen, 20, of Coatesville, walking in the 600 block of East Lincoln Highway, police said. Allen, who had a criminal warrant on drug charges, was taken into custody without incident and held for arraignment, police said.
