City police: 99 bags of crack cocaine found

Officers reportedly had to chase owner who fled from vehicle stop 

IMG_0866Officer Joe Thompson stopped a vehicle traveling with no lights at 9:41 p.m.  in the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway on Monday, Nov. 18, police said. The driver, Demetrius Hardy, 35, of Las Vegas, Nev., who was wanted in New York on drug charges, fled on foot, police said. Hardy was apprehended and arrested, and officers found 99 bags of crack cocaine in his vehicle. He was charged with drug offenses, resisting arrest, and flight to avoid apprehension; a preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 27, court records said. His sister, Michelle Hardy, 30, of Coatesville, was also arrested – for interfering with her brother’s arrest, police said.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, at 11:39 p.m., Coatesville Police responded to the Crown Fried Chicken in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway for a shooting, Det./Sgt. Brandon Harris reported. An employee said Marcus Taltoan, 22, of Coatesville, had to be physically removed from the store after he started yelling and spitting, police said. The employee said Taltoan threatened to return and kill the employee, police said.

The employee said Taltoan reappeared about an hour later, pointed a handgun at the employee, and pulled the trigger two to four times, but the gun jammed, police said. Taltoan exited the store and successfully  fired 10 rounds at the building before fleeing; one round struck the glass of the front door and lodged in the interior wall of the store, police said, adding that no one was hurt. Taltoan was taken into custody a few blocks away, police said.  He was arraigned and taken to Chester County Prison to await a preliminary hearing after failing to post $250,000 cash bail; the charges against him include attempted murder and aggravated assault, court records said.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 12:41 a.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella responded to the 700 block of East Chestnut Street for a disturbance, police said. Upon arrival, he made contact with Demetrius Dixon, 43, of Coatesville, who was intoxicated to a point where he was a danger to himself and/or others, police said. Dixon, who was taken into custody without incident, had a warrant for his arrest so he was moved to the station to await transport to Chester County Prison by constables, police said.

Coatesville Police made contact with Sharon Misiewicz on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 6:20 p.m. in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway, Officer Joseph Norcini reported. Misiewicz, who was seen stumbling into the street in front of the West End Tavern, was taken into custody for public drunkenness, police said.

On Monday, Nov. 18, Officer Raymond Jaglowicz investigated the weekend burglary of a storage building in Willow Alley for a landscaping business, police said. Nine pieces of equipment valued at more than $4,500 were stolen, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

A pedestrian stop on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 1:30 a.m. led to an arrest, Officer Joe Thompson reported. Damon Johnson, 35, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on a warrant for drug charges, police said.

Richardean Jennings, 39, of Peach Bottom, turned herself in at the police station on Monday, Nov. 18, at 12:10 p.m. on a warrant and was later released on unsecured bail, Officer Raymond Jaglowicz reported.
