City police investigating theft of Ford Expedition

Vehicle reportedly taken while owners were out of town 

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Wednesday, Nov. 20, neighbors in the 800 block of Merchant Street saw a red, 2001 Ford Expedition leaving its parking spot in the rear yard of a residence, Coatesville Police Officer Raymond Jaglowicz reported. At the time, the neighbors didn’t realize the owners were out of town, police said. When the owners returned on Sunday, Nov. 24, they found the vehicle missing and reported it stolen, police said. The Pennsylvania license is EJN0843; anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, at 12:54 p.m., police responded to a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle in the 600 block of Walnut Street, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Upon arrival, police said they located a 2005 Cadillac CTS that had been damaged by a fire. The vehicle sustained inside damage on the driver’s side and passenger’s side area under the dashboard; the Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene, police said. Durand Nelson Boddy, 22, of Coatesville, came to the Coatesville police station on Friday, Nov. 22, at 1:37 p.m. and turned himself in on a criminal warrant for driving under the influence in September 2012, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Boddy was arraigned and released on  $5,000 unsecured bail; a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 18, police said.

On Friday, Nov. 22, at 11:14 a.m., police came into contact with Damon Gibbs, 31, of Coatesville, in the 100 block of East Lincoln Highway, Officer Jose Colon reported. Police said Gibbs advised that he had three warrants and wanted to turn himself in. After checking records, Gibbs was taken into custody and transported to the station to await pickup by constables, police said.

A resident of the 100 block of North First Avenue told Officer Joseph Norcini on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 6:33 p.m. that someone had thrown eggs at a vehicle’s hood and windshield overnight, causing approximately $15 in damage, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-384-2300.

On Sunday, Nov. 24, at 2:40 p.m., police took Juan Hernandez, 27, of Coatesville, into custody in the 100 block of Franklin Street on a warrant for assault issued by the West Chester Police Department, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Hernandez was reportedly released to West Chester Police.

Jamel Lopp, 34, of Coatesville, was taken into custody without incident on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 4:15 p.m. in the 100 block of South Third Avenue on a bench warrant for a probation violation, Officer Kirt Guyer reported. Lopp was taken to the police station to await transport by constables to Chester County Prison, police said.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, at 3:36 a.m., police responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of East Chestnut Street, Officer Kirt Guyer reported. Upon arrival, they made contact with Michael Davis, 33, of Coatesville, who was eventually taken into custody for public intoxication and criminal mischief after kicking and breaking a storm door, police said. Davis was held until sober and issued two citations, police said.
