Police: Driver of parked car has heroin, pills

Image 2On Friday, Dec. 13, at 8:50 p.m., Coatesville Police Officer Stephen Galletta was patrolling in the 500 block of Madison Street when he observed an occupied red sedan parked in a high crime/drug area, police said. After making contact with the driver, Ethan Cairns, 23, of Honey Brook, officers found a small plastic baggie containing suspected heroin in the front of the vehicle, police said.

Cairns admitted to having more narcotics in the vehicle and several syringes, four more baggies of suspected heroin, and a baggie with 58 pills were found, police said. Cairns was charged with narcotics violations and held for arraignment, police said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 23, court records said.

Coatesville Police responded to the unit block of South Church Street on Monday, Dec. 16, at 10:45 p.m. for a domestic disturbance, Officer Joe Norcini reported. Police made contact with Darren C. Mason, 28, of Coatesville, who was taken into custody on a warrant for a probation violation out of York County, police said.

A domestic assault led police to the 300 block of Charles Street on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m., Officer Kirt Guyer reported. Officers determined that George Wilson, 46, of Coatesville, had attacked the victim, striking her in the face and throwing her down the stairs, police said. Wilson was charged with simple assault and harassment, police said.

Coatesville Police conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway on Monday, Dec. 16, at 8:27 p.m., Officer Joe Norcini reported. The driver, Terry L. Anderson, 52, of Coatesville, was taken into custody on a bench warrant and also cited for driving with a suspended license, police said.

On Sunday, Dec. 15, at 8:18 p.m., Coatesville Police responded to the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway for a harassment complaint, Officer Sylvester Earle reported. The victim said Thomas Hood, 52, of Coatesville, followed her and made unwanted comments; he was cited for harassment, police said.

A patrol officer from the West Whiteland Township Police Department was dispatched to Schuylkill Valley Sports, inside of the Exton Square Mall, for a report of a retail theft on Wednesday, Dec. 11, West Whiteland police said. Melissa Watson, 33, of Coatesville, was charged with summary retail theft and released, police said.

State troopers from the Embreeville barracks stopped a driver for a traffic violation on Nov. 30 at 3:37 a.m. on the U.S. 30 Bypass at the off-ramp of Rt. 322 in Caln Township, state police said. David L. Hanaway, 25, of Honey Brook, was determined to be driving under the influence and arrested, police said.

Two Coatesville residents were recently taken into custody after an investigation into the July 17 theft of several vehicles from a West Nantmeal Township barn, said state police from the Embreeville barracks. Andrew Stanley, 20, and Cory Stanley, 18, were allegedly pushing an ATV on Rt. 82 when a motorist stopped to see if they needed assistance, prompting them to flee, police said. The motorist called police, who found motorcycles on the side of the roadway and determined that the vehicles had all been stolen, police said. That determination launched an investigation that eventually led to the two arrests, police said. Both men were arraigned on Thursday, Dec. 12, and posted bail, police said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 20, court records said.
