Coatesville Police: Neighbors help avert theft

Witnesses cause 2 alleged thieves to flee, provide description that leads to arrest

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 8:29 p.m., a resident of the 700 block of East Chestnut Street told police that someone had tried to steal a trailer that was parked in the alley and had a motorcycle strapped to it, Officer Stephen Galletta reported. He said the pair fled the scene in a blue Ford Ranger with wooden panels when confronted by neighbors, police said. During a subsequent vehicle stop, police said they identified Youshimatz Diaz, 20, and Artemio Flores-Barios, 23, both of Coatesville, as the men who had tried to steal the trailer. They were held for arraignment on attempted motor-vehicle theft charges, police said.

A domestic dispute on Tuesday, Dec. 17, led to a harassment citation for a Coatesville man accused of engaging in a physical altercation with a relative, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Police said they were called to the 100 block of South Fourth Avenue at 3:01 p.m., where they cited Michael Vega Jr., 20.

On Tuesday, Dec. 17, Coatesville Police assisted state constables with serving a warrant at a residence in the 100 block of South Fifth Avenue, Officer Chris McCarthy reported. Police said they took Jennifer Marie Bowers, 33, of Coatesville, who was wanted on numerous warrants, into custody at 11:06 a.m. and turned her over to constables.
