CALN —A new trash collection contract will mean a few changes for township residents when it comes to trash and recycling pick up, starting in January.
The township’s Board of Commissioners signed a new trash and recycling contract for residents with Eagle Disposal of Pa. Inc.— which will mean a few adjustments to what had been the schedule for collection, starting next week.
The current township trash collection day of Wednesday is changing to four days per week, Monday through Thursday, beginning Jan. 6, 2014. A new trash & recycling service area aap identifying the day of the week for collection areas has been mailed to residents in a recent township newsletter and can be seen here on the Cain Township web site. Since New Year’s Day is on Wednesday, trash will be picked up that week on Thursday Jan. 2 or Friday Jan. 3.
Holiday trees will be collected by Eagle Disposal on each Friday in January. The trees must be placed at curbside by 6:00 a.m.. and will be
collected by a separate truck. All ornaments, lights, stands, and other decorations must be removed. Absolutely no trees in plastic bags or netting will
be accepted. This collection does not include artificial trees.
Residents are asked to recycle as much as possible. Recycling reduces our costs at the landfill and is the right thing to do for the environment.
