Witnesses credited with assisting in 25-year-old man’s arrest
On Sunday, Dec. 29, at 6:03 a.m., Coatesville Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie responded to a five-car vehicle, hit-and-run accident in the 100 block of Strode Avenue, police said. During the course of the investigation, officers located the driver of the striking vehicle approximately 10 minutes after the initial dispatch though witness descriptions. Police said Luis Rameriez-Santiago, 25, of Coatesville, was found to be intoxicated to a degree that he was arrested for driving under the influence and traffic offenses and taken to Brandywine Hospital for a blood test. Three of the four vehicles, none of which were occupied at the time of the collisions, had to towed, police said.
West Chester Police stopped Lance Braswell, 27, of Coatesville, for a traffic violation on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11:55 p.m. and determined that he had a warrant from Coatesville, Officer Joe Woulfe reported. Woulfe was dispatched to transport Braswell to the station for processing, police said.
On Sunday, Dec. 29, at 12:45 p.m., VA Hospital Police took Marquis Taltoan, 55, of Coatesville, into custody after a physical altercation with his roommate, Officer Joe Woulfe reported. Upon further investigation, officers discovered a bench warrant from Coatesville Police, and Taltoan was held for transportation and processing at the Coatesville station, police said.
Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway on Friday, Dec. 27, at 5:57 p.m., police said. During the investigation, Ingemie located the vehicle with Jack Johnson, a 31-year-old homeless resident, operating it, police said. Johnson was taken into custody on theft-related charges and several warrants, arraigned, and remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post $2,500 cash bail, police said.
On Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 12:10 p.m., Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie conducted an investigation into a report that John Hott, 39, homeless, had violated a protection-from-abuse filed against him, police said, adding that Hott was taken into custody for the violation.
During a traffic stop on Dec. 7 at 9:50 p.m. at Rt. 322 and Rock Raymond Road in Caln Township, troopers from the Embreeville barracks determined that a driver was operating with a suspended license and in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, state police said. Troopers filed charges against Ryan C. O’Loughlin, 18, of Coatesville, in district court as well as with juvenile probation, police said.
A two-vehicle collision in Caln Township on Thursday, Dec. 26, resulted in a speeding citation for a 74-year-old Philadelphia driver, said state police. Police said Ronald Lavin was traveling westbound on the U.S. 30 Bypass’s off-ramp at Reeceville Road and was unable to stop his 2010 Ford Focus in time to avoid rear-ending a 2013 Toyota that was stopped ahead of him. No injuries were reported, state police said.
