Police: Convicted felon found with gun, crack cocaine

He reportedly tells officers he bought it on street 20 minutes earlier

IMG_0486After watching a suspicious vehicle for about 15 minutes on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 10:06 p.m. at 10th Avenue and Harmony Alley, Coatesville Police Officer Joe Thompson approached it, apparently startling the driver, Joseph Gray, 46, of Coatesville, police said. Gray appeared to be hurriedly trying to hide something, police said.

When back-up arrived, Gray, a convicted felon, was found to be in illegal possession of a silver handgun and 10 grams of crack cocaine, police said. Gray told officers  he had purchased the gun on the street about 20 minutes earlier; he was charged with felony drug and firearms violations, police said.

 Officer Rob Kuech and Cpl. Ken Michels came into contact with Jason Bowman, 21, of Coatesville, on Wednesday, Jan. 1, on South Fifth Avenue at 9:20 p.m., police said. Bowman, who had a bench warrant for a parole violation, was taken into custody and transported to the station for processing, police said.

Carlett Bell, 53, of Coatesville, was cited for harassment after police responded to the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 11:44 a.m., Officer Carmen Mollichella reported. Bell allegedly struck an individual in the head, police said.

Coatesville Police were dispatched to the Coatesville Community Market on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 3:41 p.m. for a shoplifter in custody, Officer Joseph Norcini reported. Upon arrival, police viewed security footage of Russell Dickinson of Coatesville attempting to leave the store with $4.99 worth of ground beef, police said. Dickinson was taken into custody, police said.
