City police: Passenger had pot, parole detainer

Officers say he was apprehended during traffic stop on Saturday

IMG_0485On Saturday, Jan. 11, Coatesville Police Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie conducted a traffic stop at 2:40 a.m. in the 200 block of East Lincoln Highway on a grey sedan, police said. One of the passengers, Andrew C. Scott, 23, of Coatesville, was arrested for possession of marijuana, police said. Scott, who also had a detainer for a state parole violation, was transported to Chester County Prison, police said.

Coatesville Police Officer Kirt Guyer made contact with Gwendolyn McMullen, 48, of Coatesville, in the 200 block of Graham Avenue on Friday, Jan. 10, at 6:45 p.m., police said. McMullen, who had two bench warrants, one for domestic relations and one for a probation violation, was taken into custody and released to constables, police said.

On Sunday, Jan. 12, at 2:31 a.m., Cpl. Jeffrey Ingemie witnessed a fight between two women coming out of the VFW a North Seventh Avenue and Lumber Street, police said. Vanetta Marchant, 37, of Downingtown, was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and harassment, police said.

Police responded to the parking lot of the Little Chef Restaurant in the 100 block of Strode Avenue for a hit-and-run accident, Officer Claire Lang reported. A vehicle, which fled the scene, struck another vehicle on the front driver’s side, causing moderate damage, police said. Officer Joe Woulfe was dispatched on Saturday, Jan. 11, 1t 6:43 p.m. to the 800 block of Lumber Street for a criminal mischief report, police said. A resident said the side of his house had been hit with eggs. On Thursday, Jan. 9, at 8 p.m., Coatesville Police Officer Stephen Galletta made contact with Blanche Gardner, 48, of Coatesville, who surrendered at City Hall on an assault warrant from West Whiteland Township, police said. Gardner was arraigned and held when she was unable to post bail, police said.

Kennett Square Police arrested Luis Gutierrez-Ortiz, 21, of Coatesville, for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in the 600 block of Millers Hill Road on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 11:32 p.m., police said. Gutierrez-Ortiz was released to a relative pending a summons from district court, Kennett Square Police said.
