Man slain in Coatesville robbery

PoliceTapeCOATESVILLE — A Philadelphia man attending Lincoln University was shot to death Saturday night after he and a companion were robbed by three masked men, city police said.

Christopher Robinson, 22, was reported killed at South Fifth Avenue and Olive Street during an alleged robbery. A city man, Evander Wilson, 24, is charged with coordinating a conspiracy to rob Robinson and another man. Authorities said that Wilson drove Robinson and the other unnamed victim to Coatesville.

Once there, the two victims were allegedly robbed by Wilson and three other, masked men. It is unclear what happened, police said, but in the course of the robbery, Robinson was shot in the neck and died from his wounds.

Although the investigation is ongoing, Wilson has been charged with second degree homicide, robbery, conspiracy, and related charges, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact city police at 610-384-2300 or the Chester County Detectives at (610) 344-6866.

  1. We’re probably going to see ridiculous claims that Coatesville is singled out for reports like this by the press because of our black population.
We’re never going to make Coatesville a safer place if we deny it’s not safe.
Hiding crime here does not keep businesses and stores from locating here. Retail stores and restaurants put the likelihood of robbery into their business plans or they decide not to locate here.
Almost every retail store and restaurant in Coatesville has been robbed. Some robberies were kept out of the news by requests of business owners.
The only real effect of hiding crime in Coatesville is that it makes it easier for city council to cut back on police.
