CALN TOWNSHIP—Last summer the players of the Caln Seabees had to uncomprehendable task of finishing a season having lost one of their own, Collin McElroy, to a tragic auto accident.

At the start of the 2012 High School season members of the Coatesville Red Raiders including Justin Moore, Brian Brown and catcher Jake Kennedy channeled that energy and love for their teammate, who is never far from their minds, and refocused them selves dedicating the season to their brother forever C-Mac.

Led by their tenth man, the Red Raiders reached new heights this season eclipsing the last ten years success by reaching the “Elite Eight” in the state tournament, elevating themselves to one of the best teams in the Keystone.

As spring has given way to summer, those same Red Raiders, along with some friends have kept the momentum going from an amazing high school season and have taken over first place in the Chester County American Legion League representing Caln A.A.

The Seabees (9-3-0) lead the league in hitting with a league high on base percentage of .452 to go along with their .542 slugging percentage and .383 team batting average.

Caln Seabees pitcher Pat Cummings has help fuel a solid pitching staff in the past three years.

With 23 doubles, 5 home runs and more than 77 runs scored in just twelve games, Caln hold a one half game lead ever Kennett heading into a very important week of baseball.

Justin Moore, who along with Brian Brown was instrumental in Coatesville’s success, thus far has posted a 2-0 record with a miniscule .58 ERA while recording 11 strike outs.

Following an 8-5 win over Downingtown, who is the same team that they swept 3-0 in high school ball, on Friday, the Seabees dropped a 12-2 loss to Westtown  on Saturday.
